Aluminum foil holds its shape. That is the entire reason this works. You can mold it into any size funnel you need. Wide at the top? Sure. Skinny enough to fit into a perfume bottle? Also yes.

How to Make One in Ten Seconds

1. Tear off a piece of foil about the size of a sheet of paper.
2. Fold it in half diagonally — you want a triangle.
3. Roll it into a cone. Leave a small hole at the tip.
4. Pinch the seam so it stays.

That is it. The foil cone stands up on its own if you rest it in the bottle or jar opening. Pour slowly. For thin liquids like oil or vanilla extract, make the tip hole smaller. For chunky stuff like salsa or salad dressing with bits in it, leave it wider.

Where This Hack Actually Saves You

• Pouring spent cooking oil back into the bottle: Nobody wants a greasy permanent funnel. Throw the foil one away when you are done.
• Filling small spice jars from bulk bags: The foil cone fits the tiny openings that no normal funnel fits.
• Transferring paint or stain: Same deal — disposable, no cleanup.
• Pouring glitter or small beads: The foil is stiff enough that glitter does not stick to it like it sticks to plastic.

The Upgrade: Heavy-Duty Foil Double Layer

For anything heavier than a cup of liquid, use heavy-duty foil or double up the regular kind. A thin single layer will collapse under the weight of a full quart of oil. I learned this the hard way. My counter still has a faint oil stain.
