My foil and plastic wrap lived in a drawer that wouldn’t close. Every time I yanked the drawer open, the boxes rolled around, the cutters fell off, and I spent thirty seconds just fishing for the thing I wanted.

A neighbor told me to hang magazine holders on the inside of the pantry door. I thought she’d lost it. Then I tried it.

How it’s set up

You need a few wire or plastic magazine holders, the kind that cost a couple bucks at an office supply store. Mount them on the inside of the pantry door with small screws or heavy-duty command strips. Each box stands upright in its own slot, so you can see the label and grab it one-handed.

Why I like it better than a drawer

• Nothing rolls or tangles. The boxes stay put because the holder walls hold them in place.
• You can see exactly what you have. No more buying a second roll of wax paper because the first one is buried.
• The cutters stay on the boxes, and they’re right at hand level when you open the door.

It’s a ten-minute project that fixed a daily annoyance. The drawer is now full of spatulas and I haven’t wrestled a roll of foil in months.
