I have a golden retriever. He is a very good boy. He also sheds enough fur to build a second dog every week. My couch, my car seats, and my favorite black sweater all looked like they were wearing a fur coat.

Why It Beats Sticky Rollers for Furniture

Sticky rollers are designed for clothing — small surface areas, light lint. On a full couch cushion, one sheet covers maybe a third of the surface before it loses stickiness. You go through five or six sheets per cushion. At that rate, you stop lint-rolling the couch because it is too expensive and annoying.

The ChomChom has no limit. You roll it until the hair is gone. Five passes, ten passes — it does not matter. The rolling motion is also faster than peeling and sticking. I can do my entire three-seat couch in about three minutes.

Where It Falls Short

It is not great on delicate fabrics like silk or fine knits because the rolling action can snag. For those, a traditional sticky roller or a fabric brush is safer.

It also does not work on deeply embedded hair in carpet. The roller sits on the surface. For carpet, a rubber squeegee or a vacuum with a pet hair attachment is better. The ChomChom is for furniture, car seats, bedding, and clothing — surfaces where hair sits on top rather than being woven in.

For twenty-five dollars, it replaced roughly a hundred dollars a year in sticky roller refills. And I throw away less plastic. The math works.
