How to Stop Your Earbuds From Falling Out Without Buying New Ones

My earbuds fell out four times during one treadmill session. Each time I jammed them back in, and each time they worked their way loose by the next song. I was ready to buy a new pair before I realized the problem was not the earbuds, it was the tips.
The Tip Size Is Everything
Most earbuds ship with three sizes of silicone tips, and most people never switch from the default. If your earbuds slide out, the tips are probably too small. Try the next size up.
How to test the fit: insert the earbud and gently tug the tip without holding the bud. It should stay in place with a slight suction. If it pops out, go bigger. If it feels like pressure in your ear canal, go smaller.
Wear Them the Other Way
This one blew my mind. Many earbuds have a cable that goes over the top of your ear instead of hanging straight down. Even if your earbuds are truly wireless, the wing tips or ear fins that hook into the curve of your ear do the same job. Check your box for the little silicone wings that came with it. They turn falling-out earbuds into a locked fit.
The Cheap Upgrade
If the included tips still do not fit, third party memory foam tips cost a few dollars and mold to your ear shape. They are the single best upgrade for stubborn earbuds, and they fit most standard earbuds. The foam expands slightly in your ear and stays put through running, jumping, and everything else.
