The Tension Rod Hack That Creates Instant Under-Sink Storage
The cabinet under my bathroom sink was a cave of chaos. Bottles tipped over, sponges disappeared into the void behind the pipes, and every time I needed the drain cleaner I had to excavate half the cabinet.
A friend who stages houses for a living looked under my sink and said “you need a tension rod.” She was right. It took less than five minutes and cost eight dollars.
How It Works
Install a small tension rod — the kind meant for curtains or shower caddies — horizontally across the inside of your sink cabinet, just above the P-trap. Hang spray bottles by their triggers from the rod. The bottles stay upright, visible, and instantly accessible. Nothing falls behind the pipes because everything is suspended.

What to Hang
- Spray bottles with trigger handles — all-purpose cleaner, glass cleaner, disinfectant
- Scrub brushes with a hole in the handle (loop a zip tie through and hang from the rod)
- Rubber gloves clipped together at the cuffs
Bonus: A Second Rod for the Back
If your cabinet is deep, install a second tension rod near the back wall. This one holds less-frequently-used items — extra sponges, backup bottles, that specialty cleaner you use once a year. The front rod holds daily items and everything is visible without moving anything.
I added a small adhesive hook to the inside of the cabinet door for my scrub brush. Total cost: $12. Total improvement to my mornings: significant.
📋 Quick Summary: Install a tension rod inside your sink cabinet to hang spray bottles by their triggers — instant, drill-free under-sink organization for under $10.
